Field notes: living with waxed canvas

Waxed canvas is not supposed to stay uniform. Every crease holds a little more wax than the flat around it, so the surface develops a map of how you actually use it.
Clean it with cold water and a brush. Never detergent — it takes the wax with it. Re-wax once a year, or when water stops beading.
